The Scottish Fine Soaps Company Review

Soap is one of those things that we all use daily and don't tend to think much about.

Recently i was sent a 'soap in a tin' from The Scottish Fine Soaps Company, i received a triple milled Orange scented soap and when the little parcel arrived, i knew what it was before opening it, as i could smell the oranges already! I love the little tin and that the soap comes wrapped in paper, it makes the product feel like a treat and also means it would make a lovely gift for someone.I really love the it is made in the UK too.
The soap itself looks pretty and in use it lathers really well leaving your hands clean and smelling lovely.
These soaps retail at £4.99 and are available at John Lewis and

Marriage. 6 months in.

It was exactly 6 months ago today that Phil and i said our vows.
Since we got married things have been pretty hectic,a month after the wedding i gave birth to Alex and we've moved house as well as having Seb's second birthday and of course Christmas. This means we've not had much time together as a couple but now Alex is getting bigger that will hopefully change a little, Alex will be spending the night out next month for the first time while we go to a wedding reception and while i'll miss him, it will be nice to let my hair down and spend some time together without worrying about the baby waking! I'm also planning a night away in a nice hotel for us at some point.

Looking back at our wedding now, i wish i hadn't have been 8 months pregnant, the day was lovely but i was so sick during pregnancy and that included throwing up on my wedding day which was awful and of course my bump was huge and i had some swelling. I also wasn't keen on my dress and my original wedding dress is still at my parents house unworn(i can't bring myself to sell it!).
However the main thing is we said in vows in front of the people we love and a wedding is just one day.

Sowing seeds

As it is Spring(yes it really is) we decided to plant some seeds last week before the snow hit us!
We had sunflower, strawberry and tomato seeds to plant. Seb actually was alot more interested in this then i thought he would be, as really i imagine he is a little young.

We set up the pots and got Seb to fill then halfway with soil, he surpised me by really really careful and not spilling much. Then we put the seeds in, covered with a little more soil and watered them.
Obviously it is too cold for them to stay outside yet so as per the intructions they are on a windowsill in plastic bags and we are checking each day for shoots!
Do you garden with your little ones?

Peacocks kidswear

High street fashion store Peacocks are stocking some rather lovely items at the moment.  As well as fashion for women and men they also have a great kids range, catering for children from birth to 15 years.

The boys were kindly sent some items to try out.
Alex received this gorgeous top and jeans from the baby boy range, i love this top so much, the design is just adorable and very cool and it costs just £3, what a total bargain! The jeans are lovely and soft and have a nice soft elasticated waistband meaning Alex can get on with the important job of rolling around the living room without being hindered. At £7 these are also really reasonably priced.
Seb was sent this fab hoodie and jeans from the younger boys range. This hooded top is a winner with Seb, he loves opening and closing the zip, from a more practical point of view it is lovely and soft and is ideal for layering in the cold weather that we have been having. I love coloured jeans for boys and these green ones hit the spot, nice, bright and practical at the same time. Both of these items are £8 each which make them really affordable.
I have my eye on a few other bits from the site at the moment, in particular some denim shorts for Alex in the baby range and a stripey tee in the boys range for Seb. I might even treat myself to something!

Do you shop in Peacocks?

Sunday Snowday

Well the snow came this weekend and on Sunday we decided to get out and enjoy it.
In our garden it was a foot deep which was great for Seb so we wrapped up and popped Seb's new(glow in the dark!) wellies on.
In the garden we made snow angels, built a snowman and pottered about, it actually wasn't very cold so was quite pleasant.

Back inside for a lunch of soup and fruit, then Phil watched the grand prix while i tidied a certain toddlers wardrobe, half his clothes are waiting to be washed at the moment, i can't get anything to dry!
Pasta and meatballs for dinner followed by homemade crumble and custard
Seb then had an awesome bath(this will be a seperate post!) and went to bed while i took part in the rather fantastic #pbloggers chat!

Did you get out in the snow this weekend?

Messy Monday #1

Hello and welcome to the first ever Messy Monday!
Messy Monday is a weekly linky where you can add all your activity posts; be it messy play, sensory tubs, arts and crafts or baking.
The linky will run though until the weekend, so you can add posts throughout the week.

Each week i'll post an activity we've done and then you can add yourself into the linky at the bottom, simple as that :)
This week with Easter coming up we have been painting with eggs.
I took 2 hardboiled eggs and added them to an old plate with paints on and let Seb roll them in the paint and then onto some card. He needed no instruction and quickly got into rolling the eggs through the colours and then putting them on the paper, sometimes rolling them, other times using them in a crayon like way.
We ended up with some pretty pictures and also some pretty eggs!
So now it's your turn, add your links below.

All i ask is that you link back to my blog or display the Messy Monday badge(in my sidebar) on your post, and please try to visit the others who join in.

If you tweet me @sebsmummy with a link to your post, i will retweet :)

Introducing Messy Mondays!

As anyone who reads my blog regularly will know, i do alot of activities with Seb from painting through to jelly sensory and i usually post at least once a week with what we have been upto.
The lovely Rach suggested on twitter that i start a linky up and so from Monday i will be running a weekly linky on the blog called Messy Monday.

I will post an activity that we've been upto and then you can link your posts up showing off what you and your littlies have been upto. It can be anything from baking to arts and crafts to sensory play. Hopefully it'll be a great way to discover new blogs and ideas to do with your little ones.

I've made a badge which is in my sidebar, which you can add to your posts.

I would love it if you joined in.

Polarn O Pyret

As you all probably know, i am a sucker for lovely clothes for my boys.
Polarn O Pyret is a Swedish brand who have been making practical and stylish clothing for little ones since 1976.
Sebastian and Alexander were lucky enough to be sent some items to review.

Seb was sent some pyjamas, which he was very pleased with, he loves the car print and that they allow him to move around freely. I also love the print and design of these, they have an adjustable waist, perfect for skinny minnies like Seb and the material is lovely, really beautiful quality and they wash really nicely.
Alex was sent this supercute striped bodysuit, this is lovely layered with a vest underneath for around the house now and will also be gorgeous in warmer weather. Again it is fantastic quality and it has poppers and buttons for easy dressing, vital with a wriggly baby!
\Both of these items are gorgeous and such great quality, i know they will last well and will be passed on.

Easter sensory tub

I love a good sensory activity as you probably already know!
As Easter is nearly here i thought i'd make up a sensory tub for Seb, i gave the trusty sand and water table a break and used a storage box for this one.
Easter sensory
I filled the tub with green shredded paper, glitter eggs, foam easter shapes, fluffy chicks, pretty pipe cleaners for texture, some cake cases and finally a few tiny foiled wrapped chocolate eggs as a treat.
The first thing Seb spotted was of course the chocolate, he dug around finding them(i'd hidden some) and quickly devoured them.

Once the chocolate had gone Seb got on with exploring the rest of the tub!
He loved the chicks and eggs and thoroughly enjoyed emptying the contents of the box onto the carpet leaving it covered in green paper and glitter. We've kept this out to use right up until Easter and it has become a part of our daytime play. Although he is a little young to 'get' Easter, he has picked up some fab new words from this activity.

Paper beard!

Top That book review

Last week we were lucky enough to receive 2 lovely books to review from the fabulous Top That Publishing.
The books we received were Chloe Cow and Little Ronnie and Magic the Horse.
First up we read Chloe Cow, this book is about a cow who wanders away from home and looks for new grass to eat, getting herself into several scrapes. Seb loved that he could but his hand inside Chloe and bring her to life. Alex also enjoyed the cow puppet element,  giggling when we put her close to his face.
This book retails at £6.99.
The second book Little Ronnie and Magic the Horse, is gorgeous, a sweet story about Ronnie and the adventures he has with his rocking horse. Seb loves this book and has insisted on having it as his bedtime story several times already and has one of his horse figures is now called Magic. This book also has lovely illustrations which i always like to see in childrens books.
This book retails at £5.99.
