Alex has hit the six month mark.
Of course that time has flown but at the same time it feels like he has always been here.
He seems to be growing alot at the moment and is rapidly growing out of his 3-6 month clothes.
He has 4 milk feeds a day at around 8.30am 11.30am, 4pm and 7.30pm and has 3 small meals too. I do a mix of puree and finger foods and he is doing well, he is already happy to have food mashed rather then pureed and enjoys gumming foods like rice cakes, banana and cucumber.
He is teething like mad and they do bother him(very different from his brother!) but cuddles and a little teething powder usually help him. I hope they start to come through soon and give him a break.
He is desperate to crawl and pushes up with his hands and knees but isn't quite strong enough to do it yet and he gets really frustrated and squeals in temper. I'm sure it won't be long and for now he can get everywhere he needs by speed rolling and wriggling to the things he wants and of course Seb helps him too. The wriggling is a real pain at nappy changing time, i forgot how quickly they can escape! He also wants to spend alot of time on his feet, and is really strong on them, he gets cross if he wants to stand and i try to sit him down and the squealing starts again.
Seb and Alex adore each other. Alex watches Seb constantly and he thinks that he is hilarious, in turn Seb brings his toys for him to play with, and goes to him if he cries and even helps to make up Alex's cloth nappies. I'm sure once Alex is on the move Seb will soon get cross with him invading the playroom and stealing his toys.
Sleep wise Alex we keep Alex downstairs until he goes to sleep and then put him in his cot, this is usually around 8.30pm and he now wakes up at around 7am. We're quite lucky that when he wakes he isn't bothered about food right away so we don't have that horrible screaming while his bottle is warming time. Some nights he can be unsettled and we have to go to him several times and sometimes he does end up in bed with us. He also sleeps on me for around an hour during the day, he doesn't settle if i put him down, either to go to sleep or once he is asleep so for now I'm happy to just enjoy the cuddles and Seb usually comes and sits with us for some quiet time and we read books or look at photos.
He is generally quite a happy baby and is quite sociable, he will happily go to anyone for a cuddle. Thats not to say he doesn't have times where he just wants mummy and cries if he is put down.
He most definitely has his own personality, he is alot more determined then Seb ever was, he wants to be doing the next stage things now even though he can't quite manage them yet. Seb was a laid back baby and still is now so it will be interesting to see if Alex continues to be more determined as he gets older.
