Happy Anniversary

So today marks a whole year of marriage
It seems mad that a year ago i was walking down the aisle 8 months pregnant and saying my vows while Seb ran around exploring and making everyone laugh.

It's been a good if busy year, here's to many more.

Spicy Sausage pasta

An easy but delicious meal for the whole family, this is lovely for this time of year.
The measurements below made for generous portions for 2 adults, a baby and a toddler. You could easily change the measurements to suit yourself.

6 pork sausages, cut into chunks
1 onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 red pepper, cut into chunks
1tsp mild chilli powder
carton of passata
tomato puree
250g pasta

Heat some oil in a frying pan and add the sausage chunks, fry until brown. Add the onion, garlic and pepper and cook until softened. Add passata, chilli powder and a squirt of tomato puree and stir together.. Bring to the boil and then turn down to a simmer.
Put your pasta on to cook, once cooked drain the pasta and pour the sausages and sauce into the pan and mix together before serving.

Mama Wears

I haven't posted an outfit of mine for ages!
This outfit is from the weekend, we were going out for lunch. This dress is a new purchase and it's gorgeous and soft, so i may order the other colours as it's a nice shape and long enough for me to wear without exposing my pants when playing with the boys.

Petrol dress-H&M, black opaques
 Heart Necklace-Topshop
Tapastry shoes- Office(these were a Christmas present from Phil)
What are you wearing today?

Trendy Tuesday

Its most definitely autumn and this week the boys have taken their coats out for a test run so i thought I'd show them off for Trendy Tuesday.

Alex's coat was my bargain buy. I got in the January sales, originally £40 i got it for £9.99. Seb had the same coat in grey last year and it's beautiful hence me wanting another! He looks so grown up in this photo, it makes me want to buy a snowsuit instead so he looks like a baby again!

Brown Duffle Coat-Zara, Hat-Boots(used to be Seb's), Jeans-Next
I've been struggling to find a coat for Seb this year. We picked up this khaki parka in Tesco for a bargainous £16 and it'll be perfect for running around at the park. i like the colour and fur around the hood.  I still want to find a smart coat for him though so if anyone has a suggestion, let me know!

Ellas Kitchen Little Big Meals

Ella's Kitchen have done it again!
They've come up with yet more yummy food for our little ones.
Little Big Meals are a range of organic dishes for growing toddlers.
There are 6 dishes in the range; Chicken Curry, Bolognese Bake, Veggie Moussaka, Beef Stew, Pork Stew and Chicken Paella, each one containing at least 5 fruits and vegetables.

We were sent the Chicken Curry and Bolognese Bake to try.
Seb tried the creamy coconutty Chicken Curry and Alex had the Chunky Pasta Bolognese Bake.
I warmed them as per the instructions(you can use the microwave or place into hot water) and served them up.
Chicken Curry
Bolognese Bake
The portion sizes are generous, there was more then enough for both boys(Alex is nearly 11 months and Seb is 2.5 years). The curry was a nice mild curry and  i liked that you can see the veggies in the dish rather than them being hidden away. This would be great to buy if you were perhaps having a takeaway or a spicy homemade curry and you wanted your little one to join you. I would probably add a small naan bread next time as Seb is very into dipping things at the moment.
The Bolognese Bake went down really well with Alex, there was plenty of pasta and sauce to make a really filling meal for my hungry boy! The pasta was full sized which were fine for Alex though you could easily mash it down a little if needed(i tested it!). I think the picture below shows that Alex enjoyed it!
Overall i think these are fab for quick, healthy meals for little ones.
They would be ideal for keeping in the cupboard for days where you are in a rush or also for times when you are visiting family or friends and want something easy to take along with you.

For more information on the Little Big Meals and other Ella's Kitchen products check out their website.

Space playdough

Now that the nights are drawing in Seb is interested in the night sky and the moon and stars.
Of course, i decided to make up some space playdough. I used a basic playdough recipe, added lots of blue food colouring and then kneaded in a load of gold glitter to make it starry. A little tip is to add the glitter and knead the dough on some foil(or similar) or else you will end up with glitter everywhere!

I added some Happyland Aliens, some star cutters, silver foil and some fab space themed pasta.
I love how Seb has such an active imagination now. He spent ages talking to the aliens, feeding them, making them and the pasta rocket shapes fly. He also enjoyed cutting out stars, making prints of the aliens and  pushing balled up foil into the dough.

First steps

A couple of weeks ago i posted about Alex at 10 months old and pondered if he would start walking this month.
Last Sunday he decided to take his first unaided steps, just a couple and pretty much every day since he has been doing a few very wobbly steps. I won't say he is officially walking but we have steps!

With Seb not walking until 18 months, i am totally unprepared for this!

Of course it hard to get a snap of him in action but here he is making his way into daddy's arms.
He is growing up too fast.

Homemade Finger Paints

Now Alex is getting bigger, he can be more involved in our messy play fun and this week we made homemade fingerpaints.

These are simple to make, non toxic and most importantly...messy! They end up very thick as finger paints should be so are great from a sensory point of view too for little fingers.
1/3 of a cup of cornflour
3tablespoons of sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups of water
various food colourings

Mix all of the ingredients(apart from food colourings) in a pan, then warm over a low heat stirring until the mixture thickens. Then separate the mix into portions, add your food colourings, leave to cool and your done!

I used the tuff spot to do our painting as i knew not much actual painting would go on and  thought it'd be easier to clean up(or get hubby to hose it down outside!). I put in paper, brushes and some sponge stampers.
Seb was first in followed swiftly by Alex. Seb of course started off painting while Alex went straight for the kill and got messy., he also enjoyed feeling the textures of the paintbrushes and he liked being tickled with them.  Shortly after Seb decided that he also wanted to explore the paints with his hands.

 Then it was bath time!
