Homemade Finger Paints
Now Alex is getting bigger, he can be more involved in our messy play fun and this week we made homemade fingerpaints.
These are simple to make, non toxic and most importantly...messy! They end up very thick as finger paints should be so are great from a sensory point of view too for little fingers.
1/3 of a cup of cornflour
3tablespoons of sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups of water
various food colourings
Mix all of the ingredients(apart from food colourings) in a pan, then warm over a low heat stirring until the mixture thickens. Then separate the mix into portions, add your food colourings, leave to cool and your done!
I used the tuff spot to do our painting as i knew not much actual painting would go on and thought it'd be easier to clean up(or get hubby to hose it down outside!). I put in paper, brushes and some sponge stampers.
Seb was first in followed swiftly by Alex. Seb of course started off painting while Alex went straight for the kill and got messy., he also enjoyed feeling the textures of the paintbrushes and he liked being tickled with them. Shortly after Seb decided that he also wanted to explore the paints with his hands.
Then it was bath time!
