Easy Jam Biscuits for kids

Baking with children is always great fun and we tend to bake at least once a week along with other cooking. These easy jam biscuits have just 5 store cupboard ingredients and are particularly fun to make as they require getting your hands right into the mixing bowl. They aren't perfect to look at but they were mostly made by two small people!





  • 100g softened butter
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 200g self raising flour
  • 1 egg
  • Jam of your choice (we used strawberry and blackcurrant)
Line a large baking tray with greasproof paper and preheat the oven to 180°C. 
Add the butter,sugar and flour into a large mixing bowl and rub together until they are breadcrumb like. Add the egg and mix together with a wooden spoon until a dough is formed. 
Form 12 equal sized balls and put on the baking  tray, flatten slightly and make a well in the centre of each with your thumb. Spoon a little jam into each well, I used about 1/3 of a teaspoon for each one. Pop into the oven and bake for between 12 and 15 minutes until golden on top. 
Leave to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool fully.
