I have seen the question of how to bottle feed safely while out and about or travelling pop up on baby groups often, bottles need to be sterile, milk needs to be made up correctly, it can get confusing. So I am pleased to be reviewing the award winning Milton Solo Travel Steriliser today as well as giving one away.
A leading name in sterilising for over 65 years Milton has and still is being used by millions of parents in homes and hospitals, famous for cold water sterilisation they have more recently launched into microwave sterilising too.
I have raved about Milton Sterilisers on the blog before, I even included them in my best new baby buys so I was pleased to be able to put the Solo Travel Steriliser through its paces.
The solo is a single bottle steriliser ideal for taking for nights away, visiting grandparents or when travelling. It can be used to sterilise in 2 ways, either as a microwave steriliser or as a cold water steriliser and your bottle can be kept sterile for upto 24 hours. As well as bottles the Solo can also be used for breastfeeding equipment, teethers and small toys.
It is very simple to use. Simply wash your bottle in hot soapy water, rinse and put into the Solo, fill with water and add a quarter of a Milton sterilising tablet(or 7.5ml of Milton liquid) pop the lid on, press the safety vent and give the steriliser a gentle shake and in 15 minutes the bottle will be sterilised.
To use in the microwave you just add your clean bottle to the steriliser, add 60ml of water screw the lid on and press the vent down. Microwave for between 2 and 6 minutes(dependent on your microwave) to sterilise.
I have been trying the steriliser using the cold water method and it really is very simple to use. We like to head away for the night sometimes and this will be ideal for those nights and also for using at home when Barney is older and just drinking a couple of bottles a day instead of having the big steriliser taking up space on the worktop. We use Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles which fit in and I tried a couple of taller bottles for size which also fit in fine. This is a really handy extra to have alongside a full size steriliser.
Available in John Lewis, Kiddicare and Mothercare with an RRP of £10.99. Head over to Milton for more information.
