Weekly Meal Plan #13

Happy Monday Meal Planners. I hope everyone was able to enjoy some family time yesterday.

Last weeks meal plan went well, we jiggled our meals around a bit but ate them all in the end. I really enjoyed the wholemeal pizza and the boys liked it too but Phil wasn't so keen, I think he likes his pizza as unhealthy as possible!
This week Barney will be celebrating his first birthday, where has that year gone?! So as well as our meals I will also be making a birthday cake and the big two have requested our traditional birthday breakfast of pancakes. Who am I to refuse?

Our plan is a bit boring this week to be honest, I was feeling a bit uninspired so just put our plan together quickly.

Monday Ikea meatballs with mash and green beans
Tuesday Slow cooked chilli with rice
Wednesday Pasta and meatballs in a veg sauce
Thursday Pulled pork with sweet potato mash and corn
Friday Fish and chips and peas
Saturday Cheesy broccoli and pasta bake
Sunday Omlettes and beans

A Day of Family Fun at Cannon Hall Farm

Spring is the perfect time to visit your local farm and in our area Cannon Hall Farm is one of the best. I have been visiting Cannon Hall Farm for many years now, with school groups and now my own children. The farm has grown so much over that time and is now an award winning attraction.

Sculptures and Rainbows at Lister Park

On Sunday morning the boys were bickering over anything and everything in that way only siblings can. We wrapped everyone up and headed out to Lister Park in Bradford hoping to clear everyones heads. The weather was a real mixed bag, wind, rain showers and sunshine which of course leads to rainbows. A bit of rain doesn't deter us, wellies went on and we started exploring.

Lister Park in Bradford is a green flag park just one mile from Bradford City centre. The park is also home to the stunning Cartwright Hall which houses Bradfords art gallery. We decided to give the gallery a miss this time as the boys really needed to be outside where they could be noisy and burn off some energy. I am really looking forward to visiting when the David Hockney Gallery opens in the summer.

We walked around the hall looking at the outdoor artwork and gorgeous flowerbeds. I thought the stag sculpture was lovely, particularly with the rainbow captured in the background.
Just to the side of Cartwright Hall is the Mughal Water Garden. The water garden is designed to reflect Bradfords rich culture. It is such a calm area and I imagine beautiful on a sunny day.

Home Education in February

Here we are over halfway through March and I hadn't even written about February and what we got upto. One day i'll get organised.

After January being a bit of a washout with rubbishy germs we started February feeling better and celebrated with a very wet walk around Pugneys lake to blow away Januarys germs. The boys had an amazing time splashing in every single puddle and making friends with a dog who was being walked. Sometimes I take for granted that can just be outside whenever we feel the need too. I think for the boys spending time in the fresh air is really important even just a run around in the back garden.

My husband had a vasectomy

Recently my husband had a vasectomy. I have written in the past about Barney being our last baby. Due to me having three cesareans and having severe internal scarring it wouldn't be safe for me to carry another child. As well as that my last birth experience was pretty frightening and I don't think I could do it again. In fact just the idea of having any medical procedure makes me more than a little anxious.

Barneys First Birthday Wishlist

Barney turns one at the end of this month(sob) and I have been scouring the web for gift ideas. Today I am sharing his first birthday wishlist. Despite having two older brothers, there are so many lovely toys out there and I can't help but want to spoil him.

Firstly every birthday boy needs a special outfit. I love these  t shirts from Little Stitches Online and how cute is this monochrome crown from Fred Wears?!

Our Weekly Meal Plan #11

Happy Monday Meal Planners!  Well last weeks meal plan was a bit of a washout, a sickness bug swept through the house so our meal plan went a bit awry. Thankfully everyone is better now so our weekly meal plan should be more successful. I popped to the butchers on Saturday afternoon and they were selling off gammon joints for £2 so I snapped one up for this week, I also picked up some of their lovely sausages for £2, such a bargain and cheaper than supermarket meat.

Barney is 11 months old update

I know I always say it but time is flying and Barney is 11 months old now. I can't believe that next month he will turn one! It is lovely seeing him growing but sad that they don't stay babies for just a tiny bit longer.

Weekly Meal Plan #10

Hello Monday! I hope every one has had a lovely week. We had a fab break in London but unfortunately this weekend the sick bug has arrived in the house. Last weeks meal plan went well, just one meal swapped because I forgot to make pizza dough in time, so we had pasta instead.

This week is looking to be fairly quiet thanks to this bug. Mostly this week's meals are easy family favourites. I am trying a new(to us) chicken curry recipe from the BBC site which looks really good, the boys love curry but I tend to stick to the same couple of recipes.

Weekly meal plan family of five
