The Sweet Spot by Anneli Lort

Reading is one of my favourite ways to relax. I tend to favour romance and chick lit books these days so when I was offered the chance to review The Sweet Spot by Anneli Lort I was keen. I was sent over an e-copy to work my way through.

The Sweet Spot is a classic love story with a sexy, modern edge, set in the sleepy West Country village of Appleton Vale, and in the glittering world of professional golf.
Olivia escapes London to overcome memories of heartbreak, and moves to Appleton Vale to ghostwrite the autobiography of Sebastian Bloom, former world number one golfer and global icon. But he doesn’t make things easy for her; Olivia is not ready for a new relationship and fights her feelings for Sebastian.
Their story comes to a head at the most prestigious golf tournament in the world, The Open Championship, where Sebastian’s return to form sets up an explosive clash with his lifelong rival, Troy McLoud.
As the lives of Olivia, Sebastian and the residents of Appleton Vale interweave, passions flare and the stakes rise.
The Sweet Spot is Anneli Lorts debut novel. She has used her background in public relations for large sports companies to help write this book with professional sport in the background.

The storyline is based around the two main characters writer Olivia and pro golfer Sebastian. We meet both at the start of the book when Olivia moves from London to Appleton Vale to ghostwrite Sebastians autobiography. Both characters have had difficult times and the story centres around their developing relationship and the difficulties they face. I don't want to give away the story

Throughout The Sweet Spot we are also given glimpses into the lives of others living in the beautiful village. There are plenty of likable characters and I feel there are certainly more stories to come from the residents of Appleton Vale.

I did worry the golf element may put me off the book but actually I found it easy reading and I wanted to know what was coming next. If you enjoy chick lit like I certainly recommend you have a read.
The Sweet Spot is available to buy now on Amazon. You can find a little more about Anneli Lort here.
