A Family Meal at Barnbow in Leeds

We love to eat out. When we were invited to have a family meal at Barnbow in Leeds I eagerly agreed. Barnbow is located in Crossgates in Leeds and sits at the edge Marston Park. It is a Stonehouse restaurant, specialising in pizza and carvery and offering great value to customers.

On the day of our visit we had a table booked for 5pm but we unfortunately got stuck in awful traffic and were late. I was a bit flustered when we arrived but the staff were really friendly and it wasn't a problem at all. It was nice to see that they were fairly busy even on a chilly Wednesday evening. There were families having dinner and other customers having drinks and relaxing.

We got ourselves settled and checked out what Barnbow has to offer. The menu is varied as well as the option of carvery and pizza, there is a good range of meals on offer to suit all tastes. Phil opted for a large carvery and I went for a ham and pineapple pizza. The childrens menu has a cute dinosaur theme and both Seb and Alex chose pizzas and flavoured milk. I picked out macaroni cheese for Barney and just a glass of plain milk.

Once you have chosen, you order and pay for your food at the bar. If having a carvery you get a ticket to take which shows that you have paid and once you are ready you can go and choose your meal at the carving deck. For the other meals you are given a buzzer which goes off once your meals are ready. I think it would be fab if there were some colouring sheets and little crayons given out for younger children along with the buzzer to keep them busy while waiting.
Once your buzzer goes off, you go up to collect your meals and then help yourself to any extras. The boys loved helping themselves at the salad bar which was all very fresh.

The pizzas were gorgeous, handmade dough cooked in the pizza oven. They are such a good size both the adult size and childrens. I really enjoyed mine, although couldn't eat it all! Both boys managed to eat all of theirs, I honestly don't know where they put it all! Barneys macaroni cheese was lovely too, really cheesy! Again it is a generous size for a childrens portion, he managed about half of it plus a piece of my pizza. Phil said the carvery meat was moist and everything you want in a roast dinner was there, he even be went back for extra veg and gravy so he definitely enjoyed it.

We also had desserts taking advantage of the main menu offer of adding a dessert to any main for just £1.50 extra on Monday to Friday. Phil went for ice cream and I had sweet waffle with ice cream and chocolate sauce.  All three boys had custard faces which are bowls of warm custard with chocolate button smiley faces plus some extra. They loved these!

We all enjoyed our meal at Barnbow, the staff were friendly, and the food tasty. The meal came to £42 in total which I feel is amazing value for 2 adults and 3 children. I am sure we will now head to Barnbow again.
