If you are anything like me, then you won't have booked to see Father Christmas yet. I have been doing some research and have rounded up 21 places to visit Father Christmas in West Yorkshire this year. From train rides, to underground grottos to garden centres there is an experience for all. Now I just need to decide where to take the boys!
Nostell Priory, Wakefield
Father Christmas will be visiting Nostell Priory every weekend in December. You can pick from having breakfast with him, sharing an indoor picnic or a grotto visit. The grotto costs £7 per child including a gift, crafts and the chance to write him a letter. You cannot pre book but there is more information here.
Carr Gate Garden Centre, Wakefield
Carr Gate is offering treafast or tea with Father Christmas or a grotto visit which includes planting your own magical Christmas tree to take home. The grotto is £10 per child and opens from 18th November -24th December, book your slot online.
Hampsons Plantworld, Wakefield
Hampsons Grotto is open every weekend from 11th November. Children are able to pick their own gift. Priced at £8.50 per child tickets must be purchased from the checkouts before queuing. More information can be found on the Hampsons Facebook page.
National Coal Mining Museum, Wakefield
For a truly unique grotto visit NCM and head underground 140m to see Father Christmas in his underground grotto on dates from 25th November. Children are priced at £6.50 including a gift and certificate, adults cost £5. Booking is essential, call 01924 848806 to book.
Trinity Walk, Wakefield
Visit Father Christmas from 18th November in his specially designed Grotto at Trinity Walk. The visit is free but any donations are welcome and will be donated to Forget Me Not Childrens Hospice.
Victoria Garden Centre, Pontefract
Have breakfast or tea with Father Christmas or visit him in his grotto. A grotto visit costs £8.50 per child from 19th November, including a gift and you can book your time slot online now.
Ackworth Garden Centre, Pontefract
The family run garden centre make a huge effort at Christmas. Visit Father Christmas in his grotto from 11th November. Priced at £12 per child including a gift and photo printed instantly and popped into a card as a momento. Find out more on their Facebook page.
Whiteleys Garden Centre, Mirfield
Visit Father Christmas in his grotto at Whiteleys from 19th November. Priced at £6.99 per child including gift, plus £2 for a keepsake photo. No need to book.
Meet Father Christmas at Eureka this year. He arrives on 25th November and will be there each weekend. Eureka are even having some Autism friendly grotto sessions. The grotto is £3 per child (plus museum entrance fee) book your slot on arrival at the desk. More information on the website.
Kirklees Light Railway, Clayton West
From the 1st December Kirklees Light Railway are running the Santa Express. Board the train at Clayton West, travel to Shelley where the Father Christmas will be waiting. Adults will be treated to a mince pie and festive tipple, children will receive a biscuit and juice plus there will be activities to keep them busy. Prices start from £8.50. Tong Garden Centre, Tong The grotto at Tong Garden Centre opens on the 18th November. Let the elves show you through Santaland before arriving at the grotto to meet Father Christmas. Prices start from £8.50 per child. Book your time slot online.
Middleton Railway, Leeds
The Santa Special train runs through December, children ride the train from Middleton Station down to Middleton Park and back again. The journey will be shared by Father Christmas and his elves who will have gifts for the children. Prices start at £7.25 for a child under 3. You can book your places online.
Lotherton Hall, Leeds
Visit Lothertons Christmas experience from 24th November. Enjoy the 12 days walk, get crafty in the elf village and meet Father Christmas at the North Pole. Entrance to the estate is £18 for a family ticket, grotto entrance is £10.95 per child including gift. You can book your tickets online.
White Rose Shopping Centre, Leeds
Head to the White Rose from 10th November and you can visit Father Christmas in his new grotto. Prices at £5 per child including a gift. You can book your slot online.
Temple Newsam, Leeds
Father Christmas will be making a flying visit to Temple Newsam from 12th-16th December. Priced at £5 for children aged 1+ including a gift and Christmas crafts. You can book a time slot by calling 0113 3367460.
Christinkmarkt, Millennium Square Leeds
You can have breakfast with Father Christmas on weekends from 2nd to the 24th December. Your family will be escorted to their table by the elves and Father Christmas will visit each table with a special gift. There is a hot and cold buffet and unlimited tea, coffee and hot chocolates plus arts and crafts. Adults £11 Children under 12 £15, book online or by calling 0113 376 0318
Magical Lantern Festival, Roundhay Park, Leeds
The Lantern Festival is back again this year and as part of your visit you can visit the grotto and receive a gift from Father Christmas. £10 per child. You can book online.
Merrion centre, Leeds
The Merrion Centre is offering visits to Father Christmas for free this Christmas! You can also upgrade to receive presents and photos for just a few pounds. Open from 18th November. No booking required.
Stockeld ParkStockeld Park are holding their annual Christmas adventure for a festive day out including a grotto open from 11th December. Tickets for the grotto are sold on the day on a first come first serve basis and are priced from £8 per child(on top of entrance cost) and a gift is included.
Shipley Glen Tramway, Shipley
Take a ride on the Shipley Glen Tramway this December and visit Father Christmas at the sake time. Priced at £5 per child including tram ride and gift. Tickets available from the Bottom Office. More information on their website.
Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Keighley
Meet Father Christmas on a 10 mile steam train journey. With decorated carriages, festive music and mince pies it will be a truly festive atmosphere on board.
