Half Term Days Out In West Yorkshire

It's time to round up some of the best half term days out in West Yorkshire this February. Half term seems to be staggered over two weeks this year but no matter which week your kids are off there is plenty to do.

National Coal Mining Museum Head to NCM this half term to learn about coal mining, explore light and dark in art activities, see the pit ponies, complete the nature trail and check out the brilliant new adventure playground. If you're feeling brave why not go 140m underground! Entry is free, udnerground tour has a small charge

Nostell Priory We are big fans of Nostell Priory, it is a lovely place to explore at any time of year. This half term make bird feeders amd boxes on Mondays and Tuesdays, take part in cycle Wednesdays and get crafty from Wednesday to Friday.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park If they need to burn off some steam why not visit YSP and check out their exhibitions and activities during half term. This year YSP is celebrating 40 years of art without walls and it is such a great way to introduce children to art. Free entry!

The Hepworth We are big fans of the free family friendly workshops run by The Hepworth. This half term pop in with the kids and enjoy multi sensory light play activities. Explore the current exhibitions and make use of the Explore and Draw stations.

Eureka Great for even the youngest children Eureka is always a fun day out. This half term they are celebrating 250 years since the creation of the circus. Give juggling a try and test your tightrope walking skills. There is even a fire juggler to see. Entry cost includes a 12 month pass.

Kirklees Light Railway This half term is all about fsncy dress at Kirklees Light Railway. All children in fancy dress get to travel for half price. Head to Shelley on the train for a bite to eat and to have a play before catching the train back.

Royal Armouries The Royal Armouries is a really interesting place to visit at any time of year. This half term there is a focus on Warrior Women celebrating the women who made their mark in history. Entry is free!

Thackray Medical Museum This half term, find out if you have what it takes to be a surgeon by dissecting a kidney at Thackray Medical Museum. Explore the world of medicine, find out how your body works and how to keep it healthy at one of the UK's largest medical museums. Entry cost includes a yearly pass.

Tropical World Head to Roundhay Park to burn off some energy and then pop into Tropical World. With butterflies, meerkats, terrapins and even crocodiles there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Lotherton Hall Visit Lotherton Hall this half term to see the new Wild World including  flamingos ,tapirs and everyones favourites, penguins. Visit the house, explore the bird garden and burn off some energy in the adventure playground.

Science and Media Museum Inspired by the film Early Man this half term at the Science and Media Museum there is a special event focusing on animation. As well as a this, the museum is home tl the fantastic Wonderlab which we visited last year and the popular with all ages games lounge.

Keighley and Worth Valley Railway This half term, head to the railway to meet Paddington himself.  Along with crafts and face painting and of course the trains.

Cannon Hall Farm Now I know it is technically South Yorkshire BUT Cannon Hall Farm is one of the best family days out, we never fail to have a good day no matter what the weather is like. This half term is the Lambing Festival with daily talks about the lambs, tractor rides, soft play, outdoor play and the other animals of course!
